Why Okinawan karate Club of Dallas?
What Our School provides
Our club teaches Shobayashi Shorin Ryu as originated and taught by the late Eizo Shimabukuro Sensei and Shudokan karate as taught by the late Shibucho Walter Todd Sensei. Many of our senior instructors earned rank directly from these teachers. At the OKCD, we strive to maintain the styles and teachings passed down from the heads of our lineage.
For nearly 40 years, our club has benefited from the following:
- A strong foundation laid by our teachers
- A respect for our history
- Traditional teaching methods
- Practical and effective self-defense
- A diverse group of students and teachers
- A community of members helping one another improve

Our Programs
adult karate
No previous martial arts training required. All our instructors started as white belts at the beginning of their martial arts journey. Students will progress at a comfortable pace which suits their abilities/fitness level.
youth karate
Our younger students learn valuable mental and physical skills. Karate helps build concentration, and coordination. It also teaches respect, integrity, and discipline. We teach the curriculum at an appropriate pace catered to the younger members.
